I love Tilea as is, the Dogs of War army book is my favourite WFB supplement to scroll through on a regular basis, if they drastically changed Tilea from the vibrant, varied and full of interesting characters it has always been then would be a major dampener on my interest in the setting.

Agreed. And for me that goes for all the established Warhammer Fantasy races. If they launch The Old World and change the feel/backstory for Orcs or Dwarfs or Skaven, etc. it will be a total deal breaker. Cathay kind of gets a pass because it has never been defined before.

I'm surprised by the number of mundane human units. I thought they would lean more into the Terracotta warriors idea.

Loving those dragon horse things, they look awesome, if the miniatures match the video game concepts then I am all in on a Cathay army.

Like most things, I guess in this edition it would be Terracotta Giants.
Next edition there'd be monstrous infantry versions (Treeman > Tree-kin).

why would Border Princes become a regular faction? my guess would be if anything that they (eventually) bring out some campaign book which describes lots of micro-factions (some human, some orc, TK?, dwarf?) that are in constant squabble/alliances. and, of course, require very special miniatures that are sold in a one-off run. -------------My take on the Border Princes news is in line with my original thoughts about the Old World game. While I believe (and it's confirmed) the game will allow all the old traditional WFB armies, I believe the Old World game, miniatures, army books and supplements will focus on a variety of different Human armies (especially in the beginning of release) - multiple Empire armies (representing the War of the Three Emperors), Bretonnian (possible delving into different dukedoms), Kislev, Cathay, Border Prince / Dogs of War armies. This gives GW the opportunity to create unique armies that other companies are not doing, giving them an edge on miniature sales.

First, I love the sound of the Cathay army. I'd be seriously tempted to collect them first from what has been revealed thus far. Honestly, they sound like a combination of THE Empire (troops, artillery, and wizard wagons), Dwarves (balloons and shieldwalls), High Elves (Dragons and Wizards) and Bretonnians (Pegasus Knights and cavalry). What I hope DOESN'T happen, is that they take all the best elements of each and make one superior race to all. Effectively making the others obsolete.
Secondly, I don't think we'll have to worry about Border Princes becoming an army if we have DoW and Araby (both of which I think we'll see before BPs). Would I love to see it? Of course, but I just don't see it happening anytime soon. Depends on the success of TOW.
*Oh, snap! I just saw the map GW released and why everyone is talking about Border Princes! Color me intrigued. I still would be very surprised if they made an actual BP army. At this point, I think they are simply filling in EVERY possible inhabitants and their locations, so they don't have to come back later and make a new map or amend any existing ones. Gives them the room to expand their range if the game is hugely popular. I think they'll stick to armies being introduced in the TWWH3 game. They'll support each other. Basically their marketing campaign. Two birds with one stone.*

My arabyan army has grown since that parade. But ... there is a war on, you know?

Thought I'd just leave this here for those who haven't seen it. The biggest thing on this view of the map to me, is what appears to be a Tomb King symbol in the lower left corner, among the mountains! There's also a pyramid shape thingy near Kraz-a-Krak. 🤞🏻

knoffles: I cannot see another one there. Kalkmir (if that is what you are referring to) seems to be a tent-like structure.

knoffles : You are correct. I misread you as referring to the Beetle Symbol, but you were referring to the pyramid shape, which I mistook for a tent. Since the one to the right of Pontenne is called "Karitamen's Tomb," we can safely conclude it is a tomb symbol. Karitamen is a powerful Nekheharan Liche from WFRP2 "Lure of the Liche Lord," who was sealed in the tomb, after death. In that adventure, Karitamen has re-awakened, and is trying to free himself from the tomb and reconquer the lands he once ruled. To add: Kalkmir does not seem to have any fluff background - at least none I was able to find.
