IIRC they mentioned in one of the TOW blogs that the rules will take inspiration from 3rd edition to 8th.

I wonder if them having created Cathay rules for 8th suggests that ToW game will be similar to what 9th edition would have been had we not got Sigmarines, rather then a complete rebuild from the ground up as they have suggested in the past. -----------I'm hoping the game is similar to 8th. The fact that designed an entire 8th ed army list for Cathay is a good sign. I wish we could get a copy of it!

If it’s the Empire of the Sword Sun, based off your list, I downloaded the army doc and pics some time back. Pretty sure there’s a thread too: www.dropbox.com/s/pn7h4lhpccx7tc5/Warhammer_EmpireoftheSwordSun.pdf?dl=0

Its a lovely map but god am I totally sick of their hype advertising in this way. All this does is bring out the arguments on facebook groups as there is nothing substantial. I swear they only do it to keep people talking about the game, they leave it just long enough for the last batch of arguing to die down and then they start it back up again. Announce something of value or don't say anything at all. They could throw up a bunch of sculpts or a short bit of lore and new art or any number of small tidbits that has more value than 'heres a map with an extra symbol on it than last time we showed it'!

I enjoy the little tidbits but maybe it helps that this is the only place I currently engage with anything about ToW, I have no interest in reading arguments on Facebook, Reddit or wherever else things are discussed.

I agree, it's disappointing to see GW give so little away about TOW and makes the wait all the more painful. In particular it's annoying to see that it's unlikely that the Border Princes won't be redeveloped into a faction in their own right, and that Tilea still appears to be Renaissance Italian (yawn) rather than something different, like Roman (as per my upcoming ruleset will be) or something else entirely.

why would Border Princes become a regular faction? my guess would be if anything that they (eventually) bring out some campaign book which describes lots of micro-factions (some human, some orc, TK?, dwarf?) that are in constant squabble/alliances. and, of course, require very special miniatures that are sold in a one-off run.
