Yes. Left it is. I really like the stone colour on the left. What colours did you use if you don't mind me being nosey? The secret sauce was brushing on some kislev flesh over a black base. I will post a few more details when I get the set done and update the Volganof terrain project log.

9Jun19 Howdy again. This time around the update is mostly about getting distracted but, at least it’s Empire. I put together a unit of Knights Panther. It’s a mix of old metals and plastics riders. And then also a mix of White Knight’s metal horses and regular GW fare. And of course I had to putz around with a paper banner. To round out the unit, they are lead by a proper knight captain. Unfortunately, this unit can’t quite fit into the Volganof lists. Clearly, we need to play some bigger games… But, I did put together a proper Celestial wizard (to replace a sub-par model that isn’t really worth taking a picture of). Klaus Solmann is the only lord level wizard the Empire side gets to field. I suppose his primary job will be to dispel some of the nastiest chaos spells at least. He has a nifty special rule to help with that. I have begun working on another house, putting effort into the board is where it’s at to move this project forward. But, that’s tough when there are some many cool models to paint. Anyway, all fun and games, nobody dies if we don’t finish the project anytime soon.

They look sweet, though I am biased as the Knights Panther were always my favourite of the orders.

Thanks, guys! ----------------------------------------------------------------- 23Jul2019 Update time, and some of it is even about Volganof! But, let’s start with these guys. Light lancers (I guess in a pinch they could serve as pistoliers in an Empire army). I’ve put them together for a Dogs of War list and painted them up to fit in with the color-crazy pikemen. It’s a simple conversion from the pistoliers, the lance arm is the greatsword banner arm with a spear tip, the right arm is from the old state troops. Quite happy with how it came together. In more serious business, I painted up a steam tank to replace the Halfling-sized one in the Volganof list. This is my tank. There are many like it, but this one is mine. Really not much more to say, except that building it was so much easier and more enjoyable than the metal version…but I don’t think that is news to many either. Upward and onward. To Volganof and beyond!

Great conversions and paint jobs. I do really like your use of scenery and the backdrop for the shots.

Great conversions and paint jobs. I do really like your use of scenery and the backdrop for the shots. 110% The photo backgrounds really immerse me in the army. I think the light lancers came out amazing.

They look amazing!
Glad to see a Stank appear on someone's painting thread again! I actually repaired my old metal one yesterday and thought, "This could really use an updated paint job".
We'll see.

17Dec2019 Howdy! I have been distracted with other armies not to mention building the city of Volganof. But, I painted some Empire miniatures on the side. This is my rendition of the Nuln Ironsides (armored handgunner regiments formed from retainers of the Gunner School, described in Tamurkhan). The big 7th edition guns seemed appropriate. Then I made sure everybody had a helmet, breast plate, tassets and ostentatious plumage. Gave them Nuln black uniforms but, I stayed away from the lacquered black armor they are supposed to have. There is such a thing as too much black on a model. On the right is their fearless leader Jubal Falk. Not my paint job. He came to me as a gift from the always generous mottdon. When I first looked at the model I wasn’t sure how to include it into my army. He seemed too awesome (and well armored) to be a simply unit champion or even engineer. But, he is quite fitting for Jubal. That meant I need to paint up some Ironsides and the rest is history. Cheers!

Haha, I'm so glad you found a use for him! Honestly, I was simply thinking you could use him as an Engineer from the Nuln Gunnery School, or as a model to flesh out a "just short" unit.
And never feel like you can't repaint him however you want. He's your model and you can use him however you please!

What are the parts you used for the Ironsides? I'd wanted a unit of them, but held off on getting them for too long and FW dropped the models. Yours look great, and I want to steal the idea when I finally get around to building an Empire army.

Yours look great, and I want to steal the idea when I finally get around to building an Empire army. Most of those are a mixture of regular infantry models, Handgunners/bits, and Outrider/Pistoliers. If I remember correctly, Jubal's body was the foot version from the General's box, the arms and gun from the Handgunner's box (I had to green stuff the shoulders a bit to get them into that position), head from Outriders. Naitsabes added the dagger and powder refill containers.
