Old models - whilst eyerollingly annoying (why did it take so long?? 😂)
It does, however, quell the rumours of "scale creep". At least for a while.

Oone thing they could/should do is put Settra on a base that is compatible with the other chariots.

I’m absolutely fine with the old models. I like the aesthetic, I like the size and they’ll fit perfectly with my old 3-4th Ed undead so I can boost the army. My only slight gripe is it looks like we’ll get a rule book in each box. I would have preferred it to be separate, both to reduce the cost and so you would t double up if buying this and (I’m guessing) the Bret box

Like Nehekara itself, these models' time has come and gone, and they deserve to remain buried in the sands for eternity.
We knew they were bringing back the ancient goofy skeletons, horsemen and chariots, but it remains disappointing just how little effort has gone into new releases for the Tomb Kings. I'm not going anywhere near this box. Tomb Kings will remain one of the two WFB armies I don't collect (a few exceptions for "Undead Legions" aside).
Thanks for posting this, Mallo. Let's hope the Bret box leaks soon!

… am I the only one who loves the old models? I’m just really happy to have the opportunity to get TK core under $400 a box (looking at you, ebay.) Even if it is significantly lower effort than the Brettonians, I’m mostly happy to be able to purchase models for 8th again.

While I'm not fond of the naff old 6th Edition Skeleton/Horseman/Chariot models or the new Bone-Dragon-which-should-have-been-a-statue, it's good to have confirmation as to how the launch will take shape. The blue box is lovely and the artwork is magnificent, not to mention that there are a lot more models in the box than most GW 'Army Sets'. Though the price will likely be sky-high, I will still seriously consider a Beastmen one if they release it. And sedge I doubt GW have finished with Tomb Kings yet, in the rumours that first brought horrifying word of the Bone Dragon there was also at least one new unit planned. Indeed it's likely the full Tomb King release will ultimately mirror the Bretonnian one, with one new plastic mounted character (Paladin Duke/King or Priest on Bone Dragon), one new elite unit (Foot Knights for Bretonnians), a load of new Forge World character sculpts and all the old models re-released. Yes I would certainly have rather seen more new plastic stuff than Forge World (I mean why do they bother to release stuff in Forge World Resin now when they're quite capable of making nearly everything in plastic?), and I would certainly have liked to see the Tomb King models remade, but I wouldn't give up on the Tomb King release yet.

One more thing, this is monster of a release. 93 minis are inside. You can read it on the back cover. Did GW put out a box on a scale of this?

Back in 4th and 5th edition Warhammer, Citadel used to release army box sets of a similar scale. Usually they included an battle standard barer model exclusive to the army box.

I wonder if GW will forego selling the book by itself for those not looking to buy army boxes to incentivize sales of the big boxes. I'd imagine they'd want to maximize any and all sales, but GW makes odd decisions fairly frequently. Now that there's a little more hype being generated, I'm more concerned with scalpers potentially plying their scummy trade.

I expect the rule book will be exclusive to the two box sets for a few weeks then it will be available separately. The same goes for the models in the boxes too. Don't expect individual unit boxes to be for sale day one.
