Hi all,
after some time away I'm back to thinking about 8th Ed and today I was pondering some alternative uses for army books and possible projects this can open up (my gaming group want to stick with official books).
So today I was wondering about using Beastmen rules for Albion (as seen before using Victrix Celt miniatures) along with using High Elves rules for Nippon (FireForges new Samurai are lovely) and Cathy (not sure for miniatures yet). I'm not sure about what to use for Araby at the moment, not sure if Empire really works.
So any thoughts about the above or alternative armies/nations I haven't thought about?
cheers

I agree that the High Elves army list would work well for Nippon. Swordmasters would be perfect for units of Ninjas. For Cathay, I'd say the Empire is a better option, for Cathay does have gun powder weapons and you'd probably want your general to be the Dragon Emperor or one of his children - you could use Franz on the dragon to represent them, but use a Chinese-style Dragon model to represent the general.

Thanks for the reply. Any thoughts on Araby? I keep coming back to Empire but not 100% sure. The fact they shun technology is a negative against. Piracy aspect makes me think of Dark Elves but I already have an army.

Warhammer armies project has alternative armies with rules including Albion. Discuss it with your gaming group first and get them on board. There are rules for 8th and an updated rules packet for the warhammer armies project updated rules.

There are rules for 8th and an updated rules packet for the warhammer armies project updated rules. As far as I'm aware that's no longer the case, Eliasson, in his hubris, deleted all the 8th books from his website and replaced them with the books for his 9th Edition, following in the footsteps of the 9th Age. Not to mention that what he passes for lore and unit entries for his Albion army list is absolutely ghastly, too much campy Gaelic blarney and the literal embodiment of all modern myths surrounding the Ancient Celtic peoples of Britain. I sought to remedy that with my own army list, which is largely based on the excellent artwork of this DeviantArtist (start from Page 6 and work backwards for his excellent Albion artwork and lore): www.deviantart.com/dewitteillustration/gallery/62107112/warhammer-fantasy?page=6

However they are around if you look hard enough. And yes there are other Albion books as you suggested
