On the painted stuff the eyes are indeed finished with gloss varnish so they keep their "wet" look. Just a little update for today in case anyone was wondering what all those feathers were for. Well, a knight needs a cloak:

So, now that I've pledged Beastmen as my army for the Mega Game at DaBoyz, I pulled out my Beastman stuff. And, while I do have enough painted stuff to make a 4-5,000 point army, it's not one that I'd be satisfied putting on the table. To that end, it's hard core painting time. Tonight I've got the test model for a new unit of Tzeentch Beastmen. While the army in taking at DaBoyz will be pure Beastmen and thus unmarked, I still need the units to fit into my greater chaos forces so most of them will be painted/converted to be devotees of one of the chaos gods. This unit of Tzeentch Beastmen will mostly be fairly heavily converted (mutant parts, looted items, and feathers [both on shields and as cloaks]). So yeah, I'm ready to paint.

We've got a bit more of a substantial update this time. First off there are 4 more Tzeentch Beastmen joining the ranks: These are the head swap models from the unit, featuring marauder, ogre, and Forsaken heads. Most of the models in the unit will be converted featuring a lot of the parts from the wonderful Forsaken kit. Then we have an update on my Beastlord, Ul'Ruk The Red. Since he'll now be leading a much mightier beast-herd I thought it was high time to finish painting his back banner: There he is, and here is the first set of runes on the banner: They read "Ulruk Aqshy" in the dark tongue which does roughly translate to Ul'Ruk The Red. The rest of the space on the flayed skin banner have been left open to record his mighty deeds over the next few years. I'm not sure what's coming next. I may crank out another 5 of the Tzeentch Gors out I might do some touch up work on another unit.

Nice Daemons, I particularly like your Khorne Daemon Prince. That's the FW one right?
You are far more skilled with green stuff than I am, I always have sticking issues trying to sculpt stuff and can't seem to get my mixes right

Nice color scheme on the Tzeentch Beastmen! I don't ever recall seeing anything quite like that. Good job!

Horace Thanks, that is indeed the Forge World Prince, definitely one of my favorite models in the range, I hope to get more FW stuff one of these days. As to the green stuff, make sure that you have some water on hand to keep your tools from sticking, not a lot of water, just a tiny bit on the blade of the tool you're using and you'll see better results. mottdon I was thinking to myself, blue and yellow are the Tzeentch colors so I definitely want to get both if them on the figures. I was trying to figure out how to do it and tried the blue skin on a lark. But it seems to be working, at least so far. Anyways, another update tonight. These are technically repaints but the only part of the original paint that survives is some of the basecoat on the chainmail: So there's 6 finished Bestigor (technically Khornegor) out of my regiment of 32. I've got another 16 of them basically half way done and then the other 10 I haven't touched yet. More updates to come tomorrow.

grandmasterwang Thanks, there'll be more of those Bestigor incoming soon, just have to get up the motivation to tackle more repaints (I've got 32 of them in the Khorne style). In terms of green stuff I'm happy to post tutorials if anyone is interested. KevinC I'm glad to finally have a good reason to work on them and get them all updated my current ability/style of painting. Today's update is for my unit of classic metal Gors. Here are two Bovigor (as the bull headed, non-minotaur Beastmen used to be called):

I know it's kind of bad form to keep updating even though no one has commented but I'm trying to get all my chaos work posted here as I do it. To that end here are some more repaints, once again I'm trying to bring the miniatures up closer to a level I'm satisfied with now: I'm relatively satisfied with these, the purple and white cloth matches up with my Slaanesh forces as I've always found Centigor to be Slaaneshi in nature, all that booze must be for something right? So anyways, hope you all like them, there are 5 more in the unit but they'll wait for another time.

Alright. Another day, another update. Yesterday's Horrors are done now (again they're awaiting grass until I can do a whole load at once). I'm still having trouble getting good pictures as I've only got my camera phone and one lamp to take them with. Hopefully that'll be rectified tomorrow as I think I'm shopping for more household supplies. Anyways, this makes 5 miniatures finished since my arrival in Rochester 5 days ago, so I'm in track with the painting pace that I like. I'll update again tomorrow. I love those horrors. Nice work indeed.

So, quick update tonight, I'm working on something giant... Tonight was all about getting that skin painted nicely, and I think I've pulled it off. Here's a picture of him from the build stage to give an idea of the conversion. I also took a stage by stage series of photos while painting his skin, if anyone's interested I'm happy to post them.
