I don't mind that they have AoS for people who like that kind of game, but they seem to trying to shoe-horn AoS into an "it does everything!" kind of category. I'm sorry, but AoS just isn't on par with 8th edition as far as major, massed battles go. Keep it to what it's good at. Simple, skirmish style games for new players getting into the hobby. As they play more and more and keep growing their armies (I thought GW would be all over keeping current players in the hobby by continually adding to their existing hobby), then they can eventually play up to those huge 5K-10K games - which 8th excels at.
I don't care who sells 8th. So long as the rules are available and the game is considered "current" by GW.

Fingers crossed - maybe it will come in, in some way.
Out of curiousity if they do launch an 8th Forgeworld edition would people be happy with it being set as being part of the AoS world? 8th ed rules for movement etc but AoS fluff? Seems more likely if they want AoS to gateway to a Forgeworld 8th they would want stormcast etc to be part of the world and have it be contiguous fluff.

I'd be fine with that.
As much as I love the Old World I really just want 8th for the ruleset. I can always imagine and make up my own Old World fluff for as to why these particular armies are fighting.

I'd prefer to have the Old World, but whatever fluff they write doesn't really matter to me that much. Just don't tell me that I can't have a "Middenheim Army" because it doesn't exist. That's when we'd have words. Lol.
If you want to have 40K warp portals all over the place, fine. It's just another Chaos thingy. But it does seem like that would make it super easy to explain why Boris Todbringer is having to defend Middenheim against say, Settra all of a sudden. It'd also be an easy way to bridge gaps in time as well as space. That could explain why you could have battles between characters that were killed off (like Marius Leitdorf) and "current" AoS characters. Truly seems limitless, if not a little far-fetched.
As long as the game is supported in some form or another, that's what really matters. That's how people will get back into the game.

For me I it's the 8ed RnF rules that matters (even though I currently play a lot of chars/monsters). The fluff I like but is not as important

Heck. I wouldn't even mind if they brought it back and re-wrote most of the rules to be similar to AoS. I wouldn't play with them, but at least they'd be supporting my game. Plus, people would flock back to it.

Yeah; I don't know why people around here were so anxious to abandon rnf fantasy, but if they could bring it back in some form (even if it's with the AoS ruleset or some derivation/integration) at least it would get people talking and collecting with rnf on their minds. Then it would (hopefully) get people re-interested in 8th again.

Yep plenty of Warhammer fantasy references with a dollop of warmaster and man-o-war thrown in for good measure

Was there ever some feedback on the results of the first survey?

Was there ever some feedback on the results of the first survey? Just a "thanks for taking part": www.warhammer-community.com/2017/12/17/big-community-survey-thanks-taking-part/ - looks like there were 100,000 responses back in 2017. "We’re currently poring over your answers, and later in January we’ll be able to share with you some of the key topics and maybe even a funny anecdote or two…" - I don't recall that ever happening, unless it was just the odd footnote in announcements on new releases, the interminable White Dwarf relaunches and so on.

Moan completed! Surprisingly long survey for them to say "how about...noooooo..."
I'll inevitably boo and hiss then get back in my box for another year.
